Description
The oil protects the wood surface from moisture and makes it easier to keep clean. Because paraffin oil penetrates deep into the wood, no other substances can penetrate. The oil is colourless and the treatment only deepens the shade of the wood’s grain. It is suitable for all types of wood, especially heat-treated wood and tar-oak.
Paraffin oil is applied to the untreated wood surface with a brush, sponge or lint-free cloth. When treating boards, they should be cleaned and dried before treatment. Before oiling, sand any stained or darkened boards. The treatment is carried out in dry conditions with a humidity of less than 80% and a temperature of at least 5ºC. The best results are obtained when the sauna is heated to about 50ºC before treatment.
The paraffin oil treatment is worth repeating if the substance is absorbed immediately by the wood. Finally, wipe off any excess oil from the boards. Used tools can be cleaned with water or disposed of in landfill waste. Used tools do not present a risk of self-ignition.
